Women Artists
Women artists and artists who do not identify as men face unique challenges in prison and are subject to some of the highest rates of incarceration in Michigan. The works on this page were created by women in Michigan prisons who express their identities as women, as mothers, as members of families, contributors to many communities, and - above all - as artists.
